S1 / Upper Bowl
Identity package · 1 October 2026 · R0 cut

The selected drawing
S1 / Upper Bowl was selected on 30 September 2026. The narrower upper mass and larger lower mass suggest a B. The R0 cut is retained. The symbol is a compact brand sign; isolated letter recognition has not been tested with an audience. Pair it with the name on a first encounter.
One source, two expressions
Tactile and Modular use exactly the same identity geometry. Tactile supplies paper, grain and physical applications; Modular supplies flat geometric compositions. Neither redraws the symbol. The literal Archivo B monogram is an alternative, not the source of the selected solid symbol.
Wordmark choices
Use the plain wordmark for navigation and practical small reading. Use the cut wordmark at deliberate display sizes. The outline version needs generous scale and adequate contrast. The stacked version rearranges BLANK above OUT using the same outlines and proportions. Never squeeze, stretch or re-typeset the name.
The cut
A rising division is the shared principle, optically adapted to each format. The S1 symbol occupies 120 by 120 units; its upper edge meets the cut at x=106, y=47.487. The lower bowl and R0 gap are unchanged. The line wordmark spans 6507.8 units with a 34-unit vertical gap rising 117 units from left to right. The line gap is about 0.84px at 160px, 1.67px at 320px and 3.76px at 720px. Do not replace these paths with an arbitrary slash or apply one angle to both formats.
Space and size
For standalone handoffs, reserve at least 20 source units around the 120-unit symbol; the icon exports include that margin. Reserve one quarter of the cap height around the wordmark in standalone use. Full-bleed editorial compositions may deliberately depart from that spacing while retaining the whole name. Inspect actual 16, 24, 32 and 64px symbol exports and the responsive-logo Note. These are test samples, not universally proven minimum sizes. Use the plain wordmark when the cut closes up.
Colour and backgrounds
Explicit expression assets use token colours: Tactile uses #D8DF27 yellow on #171816 dark ink for filled icons, with transparent yellow symbol and wordmark exports. Modular uses #0A0A0A ink on #FFE500 yellow for filled icons, with transparent ink symbol and wordmark exports. Both expressions also include wordmark-expression-on-field SVG/PNG assets with these same foreground/background pairings and a quarter-height margin. Transparent files contain no background: the receiving application controls the ground. The transparent Tactile yellow artwork is a composition colour, not a text contrast guarantee: use a suitable ground and check the actual size. Neutral dark/light variants remain available. Generic icon.svg and icon-size PNGs are the Tactile fallback. Use solid ink or paper variants on a ground with sufficient contrast. Avoid gradients, added strokes and texture inside the mark itself. identity-tokens.json is a dated delivery snapshot of the live token registry, including expression overrides and accessible foreground roles. Screen RGB values are not CMYK or physical print proofs. Test actual stock and process before print production.
Placement and motion
Keep the wordmark and symbol whole. A composed tactile footer may retain its existing -1 degree rotation; standalone assets remain unrotated. Do not independently displace the two halves in routine identity use. Motion must end in the complete settled mark, with that same state shown immediately when motion is off or reduced motion is requested. No navigation or meaning depends on animation.
Files and production
SVG files are editable vector outlines. Explicit Tactile/Modular and neutral dark/light SVGs and transparent PNGs travel reliably between applications; currentColor SVGs are intended for controlled integration. PNG wordmarks are 2400px wide, symbols include 16–1024px samples, and both expression icon sets include 16, 32, 48, 180, 192 and 512px sizes with safe margins. share.png is the 1200 by 630 web sharing asset. Archivo outlines derive from wdth 112.5 / wght 820 under SIL OFL 1.1; OFL.txt is included. No new typeface or AI image was generated.
Maintenance
The repository owns packages/ui/src/identity/geometry.ts, generated marks.ts and tokens/registry.json. Run identity:build for original glyph extraction, then identity:export for derivatives. The extractor cannot write an icon. Recheck runtime placements, favicons, sharing image, guide, package manifest and download whenever geometry changes. Historical proposal sheets remain unchanged. This package is a reproducible delivery snapshot, not a second editable authority.
